With its trailer and contents still missing, one Platte County Boy Scout troop is well on its way to funding a replacement thanks to a Go Fund Me campaign.
Last month, Troop 1393’s trailer and the camping gear it contained was stolen. The 14-foot trailer was customized to store and carry gear for the Parkville troop.
Its contents included a wide range of equipment — tents, tarps, camp stoves, propane tanks/hoses, lanterns, custom camp cooking boxes, cooking gear and utensils, cast iron pots and pans, dutch ovens, water coolers, lanterns, first aid kit and more.
The estimated cost of replacement is around $12,500 for the trailer and equipment.
So far, the Go Fund Me campaign has raised about $8,500 and can be found at gofundme.com/f/replacing-stolen-scout-trailer-amp-gear.
The troop currently serves more than 50 scouts and supplies the trailer and equipment to Cub Pack 4393, serving an additional 54 cub scouts.
The troop is sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7356. They open their facility to the boys for weekly meetings and the trailer was stored on their grounds.
The post is spearheading replacement efforts and seeking cash or equipment donations.
Cash donations may also be made payable to VFW Post 7356, with “Scout Troop” in the memo and mailed to: Troop 1393 trailer fundraiser, VFW Post 7356, PO Box 12121, Parkville, MO 64152.
