Parkville suspect faces molestation charges

Sean Chase, 44, of Columbia, Mo. is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond, charged with molesting a young girl in Parkville.

Chase was scheduled to appear before judge Quint Shafer Tuesday, July 13. His attorney has filed for a reduction of bond.

According to court documents, Chase assaulted a 10-year-old girl in a Parkville residence on Monday, July 5. The girl was able to flee and lock herself into a bathroom, where she texted her mother and other family members.

Chase was still inside the residence when deputies arrived and began to interview family members. When approached in the living room, Chase allegedly admitted to the office he’d touched the girl inappropriately and had done so at least two to three times over the past year.

After his arrest, Chase again admitted to touching the girl inappropriately, both with his hand and with another object. “Chase seemed to be taking accountability for what he had done and expressed several times what he was doing to (victim) was wrong, but there was an ‘impulse’ he couldn’t control,” according to court documents.

While alone with the girl the afternoon of the fifth, he said he closed her bedroom door and laid on her bed with her. He then touched her both over and under her clothing until she fled to the bathroom, locked the door and texted her family.

Allegedly, Chase admitted to molesting the girl when she visited his home in Columbia and recounted several instances. He at first said the girl was the only victim, but later admitted to molesting his younger sisters as a teen, when the girls were under nine years of age. He said he, too, was molested as a child.
