The Pirate boys’ swimming team won the Platte County Invite in dominating fashion at the Platte County YMCA on Oct. 8.
The Pirates finished with 385 points, while the next team, St. Joseph’s Central, ended with 253 points. The only Platte County relay team to come out in first place was in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
That relay team was made up of Collin Burton, Deacon Gutshall, Gage Jonkman and Palmer Keith and finished in 3:29.56. The next best relay team was made up of Carson Howe, Gutshall, Keith and Burton in the 200-yard freestyle and earned second place with a time of 1:33.91.
Austin Hough, Brayden Carter, Carson Howe and Jonkman finished in fourth place in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.88. Along with contributing to the relays, Keith won the 200-yard Individual Medley in 2:03.66 and the 100-yard butterfly in 54.04 seconds.
Gutshall collected second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.52 and fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.35. Burton took fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly in 59.47 seconds.
Carter claimed ninth place in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.05 seconds and 11th place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.04. Howe finished in sixth place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.11 and seventh place in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.82 seconds.
The Pirates will compete in an invitational against Smith-Cotton at Heckart Community Center on Oct. 15. Platte County will have another competition at its home center on Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
