Platte City businesses come together for Kids Free Fun Fair June 18

Local children can celebrate the beginning of their summer vacation with Kids Free Fun Fair. The event is set to kick off Saturday, June 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1215 Branch St., Platte City.

Two local business owners, Megan Adams and Micki Tiffany, of Elements Dance Academy and The Laundry House, got the idea to host the event. “The community is our customers and we want to make sure we can give back to those who give to us, in addition to supporting other local businesses,” Adams said.

The fair will offer lots of games and activities for kids, including face painting, balloon animals, food trucks and small business vendors. Kids of all ages are welcome to join in the fun. “The event if for the whole family!” Adams said.

There will be a variety of vendors at the fair which will include, T-shirts made on the spot, body butter, home decor, seasonings, sauces, and mixes, handmade jewelry, cards, and magnets, porch signs, hair bows and accessories, and soy candles and wax melts and much more.

Because of the COVID-19 limitations of the last few years this will be a great opportunity for kids and their families to get out with their friends and have a fun and carefree Saturday. “This gives families and friends a great opportunity to hopefully enjoy the nice weather and to enjoy time with people,” Adams said.

Adams and Tiffany said although it does take time to plan and coordinate any event, it is well worth it because it is their opportunity to give back to the community. “Last year was our first event and we had about 200-plus people attend,” Adams said. “We are looking forward to the community coming together to have a fun day!”
