The Platte City Police Department got some help from social media after asking for help identifying a robbery suspect.
The Casey’s General Store, located at 112 Branch Street, was robbed at 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 12.
Lieutenant Albert DeValkenaere noted on Tuesday that the department got a tip on who the suspect may be after photos of the alleged robber circulated on Facebook.
The investigation is continuing but charges could be brought shortly.
The gas station was robbed by an older black male suspect who was 5-foot-9 with grey hair. He entered the store and hid a black object, possibly a wallet or cell phone, in his right hand and under his shirt.
He pointed at the cashier and demanded money from both cash drawers. The cashier gave him the money and the suspect fled westbound in a dark colored SUV.
Video shows the suspect walks with a limp.
