Platte City police investigate park sexual assault case

The Platte City Police Department is investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred last week in Riverview Park. 

According to police, at about noon Tuesday, Oct. 10 Platte City police received a report of a sexual assault from a female resident who was walking in a secluded area of the park. 

The suspect is reported to be a tall white male who was wearing a black shirt at the time of the attack. He remains at large. 

Platte City police ask anyone who was at the Riverview Park between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 to contact police at 816-858-5150. Anyone with information is also encouraged to call. 

“We also ask that if you see any suspicious activity in that area, or anywhere else, please report it through the 911 system and an officer will respond immediately,” Platte City police said in a press release. “While this appears to be an isolated incident, please be aware of your surroundings and maintain your personal safety. We are committed to keeping our parks safe for everyone to use and will maintain a presence in those areas.”
