After another successful season ending at the Class 4 State Tournament, the Platte County softball team has five players who were selected to the all-region team.
The Pirates had two players chosen to the 1st team and three players on the 2nd team. The junior duo of Takalyla Lawson and Mackenzie Shields were picked for the 1st team.
For the 1st team infield, Lawson shined on both offense and defense all season. In districts, the junior had 35 putouts on defense and 35 hits, five RBIs and seven triples on offense.
Shields was selected as a utility and at-large player on the 1st team as well. Shields entered the state tournament with the postseason stats of 32 hits, eight RBIs and five putouts.
Allison Gill was chosen on the 2nd team as the only Pirates senior. Gill ended the Class 4 District 8 Tournament with 21 hits, seven RBIs and four triples.
The last two players selected to the 2nd all-region team were Demi Riechers as an infielder and Abby Reynolds as an outfielders of the Pirate juniors were starters this fall and helped lead them to a 3rd place finish at state.
