Rural areas of the county including those along Interurban Road and in the Hoover area will see road improvements this year through the county’s annual road resurfacing program.
A request for bids for asphalt and micro surfacing was approved by commissioners at the Tuesday, Feb. 22 administrative session. The regular meeting was moved from Monday due to the Presidents Day holiday.
According to director of public works Bob Heim, the county plans to resurface Interurban Road from Pleasant Grove Road north to the Dearborn city limits, and Farley Hampton Road from Highway 45 to just east of Highway N. Several small subdivisions and the village of Hoover will be included in these projects.
Also at the meeting, director of facilities Daniel Erickson presented a request for bids for upgrades to the county’s security electronics and video arraignment facilities. The work will be the first projects paid for through federal COVID-19 response funds. Platte County will receive approximately $20 million through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) program. Last year, the county contracted with TreanorHL Architects to draft a list of possible capital improvements.
Erickson said the video arraignment arrangements and security technology were the first items identified. A full list of those possible capital improvements was delivered to commissioners late last week, with details expected in the coming weeks.
