Scott Jay Hinkle will face a two-day jury trial for a charge of felony domestic assault.
The Parkville resident, 50, will go to trial on Sept. 23 for an incident that occurred in December 2018.
He is accused of beating his ex-girlfriend so bad she suffered a collapsed lung. She was kicked in the back by Hinkle and was treated at St. Luke’s Plaza Hospital.
Hinkle allegedly threw the victim to the floor and then drug her outside by the hair, throwing her out of the house following a fight that started when her dog stepped in dog feces and tracked it into the house, according to court documents.
The victim broke back into the house by using a lawn chair and when Hinkle found her he started kicking her and then choking her.
For the second time, he dragged her outside by her hair and threw her out of the house.
Documents show that Hinkle said he gave his ex-girlfriend a ‘bear hug’ to calm her down and must’ve tripped or slipped on the ground and fell on top of her to cause the injuries. When asked about finger bruises on her neck, Hinkle shrugged and stated she was mentally unstable.
Hinkle posted $35,000 cash bond at the time of his arrest to get out of custody.
