Engine enthusiasts from across the area will converge on the Platte County Fairgrounds this weekend for the 58th annual Platte County Steam and Gas Show.
The show kicks off with a 42 mile tractor cruise through rural Platte County and Smithville beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at the fairgrounds in Tracy.
On Friday, Aug. 9, the event begins in earnest with a parade of equipment at 1 p.m. A fish fry will be held before a garden tractor pull, followed by a pickup and hot stock tractor pull at 6:30 p.m.
The kids pedal tractor pull will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Train and barrel rides will also be available for kids. A parade of equipment will be held at 1 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m.
A church service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the same time as a horse show. A stock garden tractor pull will begin at 10 a.m. with the parade of equipment at 1 p.m.
The kids tractor drive will begin at 2 p.m. in the horse arena on Saturday and Sunday.
Demonstrations on hay baling, wood sawing, corn shelling, threshing and more machines including historical displays and antique tractors will be on hand. She show includes an antique truck and car show, flea market, arts and crafts, bingo and a military vehicle show.
