Suburban boys basketball roundup: Park Hill South tops Lee’s Summit North

Park Hill South scored more than 50 points in the second half to roll to a 78-58 victory over Lee’s Summit North on Friday, Feb. 7 in Riverside.

The Panthers, ranked No. 9 in Class 5 in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, trailed at halftime against the Broncos but scored 24 points and then 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Josh Prososki scored 14 points in the third quarter and added nine points in the fourth. He finished with six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 31 points.

Jake Powers and Dylan Brougham each added 12 points for the Panthers (15-5).

Kolby Franklin scored 26 points for Lee’s Summit North.

Kearney 76, Platte County 58

The Bulldogs swept the season series with against the Pirates with a win on Friday, Feb. 7.

Kearney led 20-10 after the first quarter, aided by a 14-0 run. The Pirates got the offense going in the second quarter, scoring 21 points, but trailed 43-31.

A 5-point third quarter followed and Kearney took a 19-point lead into the fourth.

Brody Fullk was one of three Pirates in double figures, scoring 17. Jaden Burnett had 12, while Joey Schultz scored 11. Fulk made three 3-pointers and had three assists./

Burnett shared a team-high with five rebounds.

Park Hill South 58, Lee’s Summit 46

The Panthers started the week off with a win against another Lee’s Summit team — the Tigers — on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Dan Parra’s squad used a balanced attack with four players scoring at least nine points in the victory.

The Panthers scored 33 of the points in the first half, hitting six 3-pointers in that span.

Messias Dockery led the team with 12 points, while Jake Powers added 11. Josh Prososki, Jonathan Thompson and Connor Robertson all had nine points for the Panthers.

Raytown South 68, Platte County 56

The Pirates led after the first two quarters but the Class 4 No. 2-ranked Cardinals rallied for the win in the second half on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in Raytown.

The Pirates led 21-12 after the first quarter and 37-30 at halftime.

A 24-point third point gave the Cardinals a 54-46 lead. 

Dylan Minshall had 15 points, while Jaden Burnett had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Joey Schultz had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four blocks.

Park Hill: The Trojans will have three league games in the next week. The first was hosting Lee’s Summit North on Tuesday, Feb. 11. A road game at Ray-Pec follows on Friday, Feb. 14, before returning home for a contest against Blue Springs on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Park Hill South: A three-game divisional schedule started with a road game at Class 5 No. 8 Liberty on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Results were not available by press time. Then, the Panthers host Staley (Feb. 14) and St. Joseph Christian (Feb. 18).

Platte County: The Pirates played league foe Smithville on Tuesday, Feb. 11, but results were not available by press time. Then, the Pirates play at St. Joseph Central on Friday, Feb. 14 and return home for Suburban Conference Blue Division game against Winnetonka on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
