Suburban Conference changing in 2022

Once again, the time has arrived for the Kansas City Suburban Conference to be realigned as Platte County, Park Hill and Park Hill South will all be taking on different conference opponents from 2022-2024.

For nearly two decades, there has been four divisions in the conference: Suburban Gold, Suburban White, Suburban Red and Suburban Blue. There is a two-year cycle based on enrollment that shifts schools to separate divisions, with a new division being added starting in 2022.

The Silver Division is the fifth and newest addition to the Kansas City Suburban Conference with Park Hill and Park Hill South joining it. The Panthers and Trojans haven’t been in the same conference since 2018, but the rivals will regularly be playing each other once again starting next year.

The Park Hill schools will also be in the same conference as Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit North, Liberty and Staley. Park Hill is currently in the Gold Division, while Park Hill South is currently in the Red Division.

For Platte County, it will be moving from the Blue Division to the White Division. The Pirates will be in the same conference as Belton, Grain Valley, Raytown and William Chrisman.

The Kansas City Suburban Conference hasn’t added a division since 2008, but with the addition of Excelsior Springs – who joined the Suburban Blue Division – the conference has grown. The divisions are subject to be changed again in 2024.
