Platte County extracted a bit of revenge when it mattered most — in the postseason.
The Pirates secured a 5-3 victory over St. Joseph Central at home on Monday, Oct. 7 in the Class 2 District 16 playoffs.
Earlier this season, the Indians posted a 5-4 win against Platte County and took a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Sophie Curtis and Molly McBratney won at No. 3 doubles to get the Pirates on the board.
In singles, Karlee Chase (No. 1), Anna Murray (No. 4), Curtis (No. 5) and McBratney (No. 6).
That sent the Panthers (4-8) into the semifinals against No. 1 seeded Park Hill South on Tuesday, Oct. 8. In the other semifinal, No. 2 Park Hill will play No. 3 Staley. The championship match is set for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the highest remaining seed.

Park Hill South 7, Blue Springs 2
The Panthers closed out the regular season with a seventh straight win to finish 11-4 with a win on Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Blue Springs.
Park Hill South swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead with wins coming from Chloe Norris/Vivien Hamilton at No. 1; Sydney Dial and Nicki Matthews at No. 2 and Taylor Brown and Jacklynn Pham at No. 3. In singles, Dial, Matthews, Brown and Pham picked up wins against the Wildcats.
Park Hill 5, Oak Park 1
In a rain-shortened event on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Trojans beat the Lady Oakies at Barry Park in Kansas City.
Elise McFee, Jade Ray, Sanjana Kotha, Elizabeth Appel and Taleen Adjemian picked up wins in singles for the Trojans.
Doubles play didn’t finish due to the weather.
Park Hill 9, Ray-Pec 0
The Trojans closed out the conference portion of the schedule with a sweep over the Panthers on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Barry Park in Kansas City.
Park Hill finished league play with a 3-2 mark.
Elise McFee, Jada Ray, Sanjana Kotha, Elizabeth Appel, Grace Yu, Taleen Adjemian won in singles.
In doubles, McFee/Ray, Audrey Lynn/Appel and Kotha/Yu all got wins for Park Hill.
Park Hill South 9, Truman 0
The Panthers secured the Suburban Conference Red Division title with victory on Tuesday, Oct. 1 against the Patriots.
Truman scored only one point in the nine setbacks.
Wins in singles came from Chloe Norris, Vivien Hamilton, Sydney Dial,Nicki Matthews, Taylor Brown and Jacklynn Pham.
Norris/Taylor Brown, Pham/Taryn Brown and Kendra Slaughter/Sophie Hayes got wins in doubles for Park Hill South.
