Platte City Aldermen will not amend ordinance allowing exotic animals
Platte City’s Board of Aldermen upheld the City’s public safety sub-committee’s recommendation not to amend an exotic animal ordinance prohibiting Noah the Wallaby from Platte City Tuesday night — but his owners are not ready to abandon the fight to bring their pet home.
“The government is changing,” Noah’s owner, Platte City resident Emily Wood, said. “It’s becoming more flexible. It must grow with the people it represents.”
Despite the fact Wood says there’s no legal options for a petition, she began one both in writing and online. Wood hopes the petition will bring attention to the plight of her family and their wallaby. It currently has 300 signatures. The online petition can be reached by going to the Facebook page Bring Noah Home.
