It may look like Dearborn’s 2013 budget took a drastic slash in funding from last year, but the comparison is not what it seems. This year’s budget shows an income of $870,696.97 for the City with expenditures coming in at $870,086.41, for a difference of $610.56, which puts the city in the black for the coming year. This is a drastic change from 2012’s numbers which featured a $1.6 million income and a $1.1 million expenditure forecast.
A noticeable income line item vanished from the 2013 general fund budget: $625,000 for the community center project, which is expected to open this May.
But it is not completely gone from the budget.
