The Subway restaurant located at the Trex Mart in Dearborn, Mo. remains closed following a surprising accident.
On Friday, Dec. 22, a tractor trailer struck the building, causing extensive damage to the west wall of the building. The front end of the truck protruded into the kitchen area of the Subway.
No injuries were reported, although there were multiple patrons inside the store at the time of the incident.
“Thankful no one was hurt,” a post read on the Dearborn Trex Mart Facebook page sharing some of the media coverage of the event.
According to law enforcement officials, the driver of the truck was inside the gas station at the time of the accident. He parked the truck at a gas pump on the diesel side when the vehicle apparently came out of gear and slowly rolled into the building, limiting the damage to a very small area.
Workers were able to put up plywood to cover up the hole in the sheet metal siding in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
The accident occurred at about 3 p.m., and workers quickly patched up the hole after the truck was removed. The gas station remains open while repairs are made, but the Subway will stay closed until later.
