The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting near Tracy.
The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 on Interstate 29 just north of Highway 273.
Deputies were called to the scene of a crash, but warned of a possible gunshot injury at the scene.
According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office, deputies made contact with a 26-year-old male who had a gunshot wound to the back of his head and what appeared to be an exit wound on his face.
The wounded party indicated that he was driving the vehicle when his uncle, Constatin Iavorschi, a 31-year-old male, shot him in the back of the head.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
Iavorschi was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Platte County Detention Center in Platte City.
By press time, Iavorschi had been charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action.
He will remain in custody on a $200,00 cash-only bond.
