KANSAS CITY – So far this season, the Park Hill boys’ tennis team (9-0-1) has yet to falter as a tie to Park Hill South (4-2-2) in the Trojans’ doubles tournament on April 10 has been the closest thing to a defeat.
After a 2-2 split at the tournament, the Trojans outlasted the Panthers in the finals in a tiebreaker. Park Hill took care of business in the remaining matches, sweeping Blue Springs (1-4) and Lee’s Summit North (6-2-2-) in addition to a 3-1 win over Liberty North (5-4-1).
Counting the Park Hill Doubles Tournament, the Trojans outlasted seven teams in a week span at Barry Park. They had their first match at home on April 8, taking down Platte County (7-1) 6-3 on April 8 before an 8-1 victory over Blue Springs South (2-4) on April 9.
Following the first-place finish in the doubles tournament, Park Hill hosted St. Joseph’s Central (3-3) on April 11. The Trojans won 7-2 to remain unbeaten.
Park Hill South, on the other hand, hasn’t been perfect with an 0-1-1 record against Park Hill – including the season opening 6-3 defeat on March 21. The Panthers bounced back with a 5-4 triumph over St. Joseph’s Central on April 4 and were swept by Pembroke Hill (4-2) on April 9.
At the Park Hill Doubles Tournament, Park Hill South opened with a 4-0 win over Lee’s Summit. The Panthers also beat Grain Valley (4-6-2) and tied with Barstow (4-12).
Most recently, Park Hill South took down Liberty North (5-4-1) 6-3 on April 11. The Panthers will host Staley (0-5) and the Trojans will host Liberty (7-2) on April 18.
