Trojans win Battle of the Hills on the court

The Park Hill and Park Hill South girls’ tennis teams met up last Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Park Hill, with the Trojans coming away with an 8-1 win over South.

The Trojans won all three doubles matches, with No. 1 player Ellie Gaddis and No. 4 Andi Osborne beating South’s No. 1 player Ainsley Arnold and No. 2 player Presley Davis 8-2. The most exciting match pitted Park Hill’s No. 2 player Eladie Marshall and No. 3 player Audrey Bolyard versus South’s No. 3 player Katja Jacimovic and No. 6 player Renae Masson, with the Trojans getting the win 9-8. Park Hill’s Addison Worden and Laney McCabe beat South’s Cate Supinski and Sophia Doane 8-1.

In singles play, Gaddis beat Arnold 8-4; Marshall beat Davis 8-0; Bolyard beat Jacimovic 8-4; Osborne beat Supinski 8-0; and the Trojans’ No. 5 Ava Ciccio beat Doane 8-4. The only win for South was Masson getting an 8-4 win over Park Hill’s No. 6 player, Josie Marshall.

South bounced back to get its first conference win on Thursday, Sept. 19, with an 8-1 win over Oak Park and has matches versus North Kansas City and St. Joseph Central this week. Park Hill followed up the win over South with a 6-3 loss to North Kansas City. The Trojans have matches this week versus St. Joseph Central and Oak Park.
