The West Platte School District Board of Education has selected Greg Reynolds as the next math teacher and assistant girls basketball coach.
Reynolds comes to West Platte from a successful teaching and coaching background. He began his teaching career in St. Joseph, Mo., where he taught all levels of high school science and math.
While in St. Joseph, he also served as head coach for the Benton softball program. The team went to the playoffs in 2014.
He was also a longtime assistant in basketball and baseball.
Reynolds was an assistant coach for the 2007 state championship baseball team at Benton High School.
Reynolds is originally from the St. Joseph area.
He and his wife, Lori, of 24 years, have three children. Madisyn is a senior at Northwest Missouri State University, Elizabeth is a freshman at Missouri State, and Xavier is in 8th grade.
Reynolds has always been involved in athletics, starting at a young age; and continues to be so with all of his children’s activities.
Greg and Lori Reynolds and their children are all part of Wesley United Methodist Church in St. Joseph Mo.
He graduated from Northwest with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry education with a minor in mathematics. Later, he earned a physics endorsement and finished a master’s degree in education from Baker University in Baldwin, Kan.
“I have been looking for the perfect place to take my family and make our new home,” Reynolds said. “My wife and I are both small town people and feel we have finally found everything we have been searching for at West Platte.”
