According to court documents, a Weston Police Department officer responded to a call for a disturbance at the St. George Hotel, and upon arrival, he located a customer in the bar threatening a customer by saying, “I will rip your head off and kick everybody’s ass.” The man — later identified as Aaron McDowell, 25 — told the officer that it was a family matter and that the officer could leave.

After being asked to calm down, McDowell began to threaten the officer, allegedly telling him, “You better do whatever you’re going to do or I’m going to kick your ass.” He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and failing to obey a lawful command.

At that point, the officer escorted McDowell out the door when the suspect tried to push backward and turn around toward the officer, who pushed him toward the patrol car. McDowell continued to resist and allegedly told the officer, “I will kick your ass. You’re going to die, (slur).”

A local citizen offered assistance and unlocked the patrol car.

As the officer attempted to put McDowell in the car, he allegedly struck the officer with a head-butt, then came at him again with a second head-butt that cut the suspect’s cheek. Once inside the car, the suspect began hitting his head on the window of the patrol car.

McDowell remained in custody earlier this week in lieu of a $10,000 cash-only bond, charged with misdemeanor assault of a law enforcement
officer.
