A local yoga instructor admitted to inappropriately touching a 6-year-old boy at a school in Parkville, Mo., according to court documents.

Last week, the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office field a felony charge of child molestation against 22-year-old Christian A. Hammond of Kansas City, Mo. He stands accused of touching the butt and penis of a young boy he knew from a yoga class at Parkville Children’s Cottage — a Montessori early education school on NW Crooked Road.
According to court documents, the boy’s mother contacted authorities after her son said he received a hug from the yoga teacher. The child told authorities in an interview that the man had made direct contact with his butt and penis on multiple occasions when they would hug after yoga class.
Hammond went into custody on Tuesday, Nov. 14, and when confronted with the allegations, Hammond admitted to knowing the boy, according to court documents. He went on to admit that he has hugged the alleged victim and touched his butt and penis outside of his pants.
According to court documents, Hammond said this occurred less than 10 times but more than four. He denied making skin-to-skin contact during the incidents but did said say he has “pulled the victim’s pants away from his stomach and looked at his penis.”
When asked why he picked the victim, Hammond stated, “I don’t know. He is a cute child,” according to court documents. Hammond remains in custody at the Platte County Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 cash-only bond.
