District commissioner Dagmar Wood will face some competition on the way to the assessor’s office.
Marcus Farr announced Monday, Feb. 5 that he is seeking the office of Platte County Assessor as a Republican.
“As your new Platte County Assessor, I will provide the lowest assessments allowable; be in the office full-time, unlike office holders who treat their county position as part-time work with full-time pay; and fully support senior tax relief,” Farr said. “I will lead with integrity and honesty and will ensure that the assessor’s office is professional and respectful of the taxpayers. I will not be constrained by conflicts of interests; valuations will be objective and unbiased.”
Farr is currently a certified real estate appraiser and an experienced appraiser for Platte County giving him extensive knowledge of the real estate market. He has been actively involved in the Platte County community for 20-plus years. Farr and his wife Angela have been married for 23 years and are raising two children in Platte County.
Current assessor David Cox announced his retirement last week, effective at the end of his term in December. Wood announced last fall that instead of running for re-election to her seat on the commission, she planned to seek the assessor’s office.
