The Panthers didn’t get a field goal for more than 7 minutes and faced a double-digit margin throughout most of the KCI Conference contest on Thursday, Jan. 17 in Dearborn.

The Mules, winner of seven in a row, raced out to an 11-0 lead and led 13-1 after the first 8 minutes. The only points for North Platte – which has dropped nine in a row – was a free throw from Andrew Hernandez with 1:06 left in the frame.

Hernandez, who had a team-high 8 points, hit a 3-pointer at the 6:36 mark in the second quarter for the first field goal for North Platte (1-13, 0-3 KCI). From there on, the lowest deficit for North Platte was 17-7, after a bucket by Jesse Martin.

By halftime, Lathrop took a 33-7 lead thanks to closing out on a 16-0 run.

The run expanded to 22-0 by the third quarter, which made it 39-7 with 5 minutes to play in the third quarter. North Platte scored 12 points in the frame, but trailed 52-19 going into the final quarter. A turbo clock made the fourth quarter move by quickly.

Chris Moore had 16 and Blake Gordon added 14 for Lathrop.
