Panthers, Trojans lock in seeds for district tourney

The Park Hill (7-18) and Park Hill South baseball teams (17-13) have had some highs and lows this season, but both will have a fresh start when the postseason begins.

Park Hill’s Brayden Resch helped the Trojans clinch the No. 6 seed in the Class 6 District 8 Tournament, which will be at Creekside Baseball Complex starting on May 16.

The rival schools are in the same postseason bracket: the Class 6 District 8 Tournament. The Panthers will be the No. 4 seed and the Trojans will be the No. 6 seed.

Park Hill South has had four-game streaks on the winning and the losing sides throughout the course of the season, while the Panthers’ most recent game was a 1-0 loss to Oak Park (18-10) on May 3. The Panthers have averaged 4.6 runs per game and allowed 3.8 runs per game in 2022.

After reaching a 5-9 record, the Park Hill baseball team has fell into a rut, losing nine of its last 11 games. The Trojans failed to score a run in both of their last two games, after Park Hill fell 12-11 against Blue Springs (14-20) on April 29.

Park Hill will have one more regular season game at Lee’s Summit West (12-12) on May 11 before the Trojans take on sixth-seeded Staley (20-13) on May 16 at 6 p.m. at Creekside Baseball Complex. Park Hill South will match up with the No. 5 seed Oak Park on the same day, place and time after the Panthers’ regular season finale against North Kansas City (11-12) on May 11.
