The Platte County Pirates soccer team got a 7-0 win over Lincoln Prep (Kansas City) last Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the annual Park Hill Fall Classic Tournament played at the Park Hill District Complex.
Pirates’ senior Tug Thornton got the scoring going early for the Pirates with a goal in the second minute of the contest. Thornton would add two more goals in the second half for a hat trick.
A few minutes later junior midfielder Thien Nguyen added the Pirates’ second goal and before halftime in the 40th minute with just seconds left on the clock freshman Kayden Roy scored to give Platte County a 3-0 halftime lead. Sophomore Camden Noller and senior Aidan Murray also scored goals in the second half.
The Pirates followed up the tournament with a 6-0 defeat to Park Hill on Monday, Sept. 9, at the Park Hill Soccer Complex. The Pirates next match is on the road at Fort Osage tonight.
