Riverside resident Jason Sessoms, 19, has been charged in Clay County, accused of shooting and killing his parents in a Clay County motel. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

On Saturday, March 29, Kansas City police responded to a missing persons report at a hotel located off Parvin Road near Worlds of Fun. Once there, they found 42-year-old Marvin Sessoms and 38-year-old Maleeka Sessoms dead from gunshot wounds.
Jason Sessoms was located in Michigan, where he was arrested for an alleged home invasion, in which he attempted to disarm a police officer and resisted arrest. He was armed with two handguns at the time of his arrest.
As of press time, Jason Sessoms remains in custody in Michigan, held on a $2 million bond.
