Seven golfers from three high schools in Platte County made it to state, having various performances on May 15 and 16.
Park Hill and Park Hill South competed in the Class 5 State Tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, MO. The Panthers had enough to put a team together, taking sixth place overall with 661 strokes.
Keegan Feder led Park Hill South with 160 strokes, earning 56th place. Lucas Nichols wasn’t too far behind – by one stroke – tying with six others for 58th place.
Drew Hurley ended in 76th place, shooting an 85 and an 82 to end with 167 strokes. Matthew Parker was the final Panther, finishing in 82nd place with 173 strokes.
Zach Cato had an identical outing on both days, having 77 strokes each. The top Park Hill golfer tied for 32nd place with 154 strokes.
Baker Fredal was the only other Trojan and ended in 78th place. He shot an 81 on the opening day and had a worse outing on day 2, shooting an 88.
Platte County sent one golfer – senior Parker Amos – to the Class 4 State Tournament. That was at Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia, MO.
The weather was less than ideal, with there even being a delay due to the downpour on the opening day. Amos went five over par through six holes, before having an even par in the final eight.
“Parker had a pretty good showing at this final golf tournament of his high school career,” Platte County golf coach Trevor Short said. “The conditions didn’t really seem to faze Parker as he shot about his average score for the season on both days.”
Amos ended with 78 strokes on the first day and 79 strokes on the second day. While he ended his career short of an all-state outing, he ended in a tie for 34th place.
“There were a few shots that were left out on the course both days, but Parker managed to take what the course gave him and played two solid rounds of golf. It has been a great journey with Parker the last four years and the golf team wishes him the best of luck in all his future endeavors,” Short said.
