Work approved for Dearborn community center

There were seven topics of old business and one topic of new business that were addressed at the City of Dearborn Board Meeting on Monday, July 11.

In new business, there was a maintenance agreement that was approved for Hackett Road as Platte County is updating all county maintenance agreements to a standard format.

There is the possibility of billing two times a year instead of just once with this agreement and there is $15,300 left in the budget.

The meeting was held at the Dearborn Community Center and the building itself was discussed during the night. The Community Center’s refrigerator and generator need replacement and the acoustics in the building need to be tweaked.

Alex Ball of Public Works announced in the meeting that there was a bid for the generator replacement with a quote of $41,997 and that he’s in the process of getting in touch with somebody about the refrigerator.

City Clerk Cindy Atkison addressed the acoustics issue by suggesting a drop ceiling, drop speakers, black units with microphones installed and wireless basic units for board members.

There will be an open public meeting in regard to the two bridges – located on 211 E 3rd St. and Z-Hwy and 720 Maple Leaf – that are going to be under construction soon and where traffic can flow through when the time comes.

The meeting will take place at North Platte High School on Wednesday, July 13, from 4 to 6 p.m.

There was a law enforcement report for traffic stops and service calls and there were 38 total since the last meeting. Twenty-one of those were traffic stops, two of which were DWI’s, and one was an animal call.

There were a few city complaints addressed at the meeting, including a vacant house on Fourth Street that hasn’t been mowed this year. The clerk notified the management company.

There has been a nuisance complaint from Mike Lyons about constant music playing all day for the last two months at the storage facility, he originally sent a request on June 21 and the music stopped for three days but has been continuously played since then.
