Park Hill junior Sam Paulak eagled her final hole, extending her margin of victory Monday, Aug. 31 in the Liberty North Invitational. She shot a 2-over 74 to beat Liberty’s Brianna Walker by five strokes in the 100-player field at Cardinal Hill Golf Course in Liberty, Mo. Behind Paulak’s medalist effort, Park Hill finished seventh as a team with a 392 — one stroke back of Kearney and four away from a top-five effort. Kelbey Emerson placed in a four-way tie for 25th with a 98 to post the Trojans’ No. 2 score.
Platte County’s Jessalyn Shipp posted a 23-over 95 to finish in a tie for 18th — nine shots out of the medals. The rest of the Pirates’ scores were over 100, and they came in 13th in the final team standings out of 21 with a 443. Kasydie Shipp shot a 102 (tied for 33rd), Kortney Rogers a 108 (tied for 49th) and Abby White a 138 (tied for 89th).
“Overall for the first tournament of the year, it wasn’t bad,” Platte County coach Trevor Short said. “We played some very big schools and some very good golfers today. This will be a good learning experience for the team, and we will move forward and look for more ways to improve our game.”

Rogers won medalist honors in the Pirates season opener Wednesday, Aug. 26 on The Posse Course of Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. She shot an 8-over 44 in her debut as the top player.
“What a great way to start the season,” Short said. “The ladies were a bit nervous going into their first match of the season, but after a few holes the nerves subsided and they just played golf.”
Jessalyn Shipp (51), Kasydie Shipp (54) and Reyonolds (55) rounded out the top five for Platte County.
