A 62-year-old Weatherby Lake accused of promotion of child pornography has been bound over for trial.

Judge Quint Shafer sent the case on to Division I court earlier this month, with Carter set to appear on the new venue on Thursday, July 9.

According to court documents, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in July, including 14 pictures.

An investigation was launched with Carter’s internet provider responding to a subpoena. The 14 photographs depicted young girls either fully nude, topless or dressed in lingerie.

Carter’s residence was searched on Dec. 5, 2019 and Carter and another occupant of the residence were questioned. The occupant was able to confirm Carter’s email address and identify his iPad, which upon search contained multiple images of child pornography.

During the search, 19 items were recovered, including a 750 GB external hard drive containing thousands of images and videos of suspected child pornography. An initial review found more than 30,000 images of known child pornography.

A folder potentially containing images labeled as of an eight-year-old girl at the Kansas Speedway was also located.
