The City of Weston is down another long-time staff member with the resignation of director of public works Mike Large.
The board of aldermen accepted his resignation at a special board meeting held Tuesday, Oct. 1. He submitted his resignation on Sunday, Sept. 29 but had not been to work since Monday, Sept. 16 when he left for vacation. No public reason was given for his resignation. Large was hired as director of public works in April 2003.
City staff will begin the search to replace Large soon, with plans to advertise in local newspapers and requesting resumes.
In September, city clerk Kim Kirby announced her retirement, effective in July 2020. She has served as Weston’s city clerk since July 2000.
Water plant supervisor Stephen Cornelius also recently resigned, but then rescinded his resignation after discussions with city officials.
