In the aftermath of the Park Hill South baseball team’s first year in the Silver Division of the Kansas City Suburban Conference, nine players earned all-conference honors.
With a talented senior class leading Park Hill South to an 18-16 record, Aaron Boutz and Bryan Wilhoite shined as the top-2 and were first team selections. Boutz spent a decent amount of time on the mound this spring and Wilhoite was a shortstop.
Boutz appeared in 11 games as a pitcher, starting eight and going 4-4 while striking out a team-high 45 batters with a 4.30 ERA. Offensively, he had 23 hits – 18 of which were singles – along with 16 RBIs and 0.371 batting average, leading the team.
Wilhoite tied with Collin Morris as the only player to have 32 appearances, being reliable for the Panthers. He scored the most runs for Park Hill South this season, 32, when he had 33 hits, 11 doubles and 11 RBIs.
All of Park Hill South’s all-conference second-team selections were seniors. Brody Hufft, Evan Demint, Michael Cook and Morris all ended their high school career on a high note.
The Panthers had five home runs this season with Hufft having two of them. The Park Hill South senior center fielder had 27 hits and 21 RBIs with a 0.284 batting average, along with a team-high four triples.
Demint pitched 11 games, going 4-3 in his starts and having one save when striking out 35 batters with a 4.96 ERA. He had a 3.08 batting average as he connected with 26 hits and had 16 RBIs.
Cook saw some time on the mound in his senior campaign, appearing in four games and splitting his two starts. He struck out five batters and on offense, had 16 hits and eight RBIs.
Morris had 34 hits on 97 at-bats, good for a 0.351 batting average along with 27 RBIs. The left fielder added 37 putouts, defensively.
Senior Casen Lett was one of three Park Hill South Silver Division Honorable Mentions. The second baseman had 25 hits and 19 RBIs with a 0.291 batting average and two home runs.
Brock Harmon and Aidan Bui were the other two Panthers who were honorable mentions. Harmon was a first baseman and Bui was a third baseman.
Harmon had 76 putouts this spring and was an efficient batter, having the second-highest batting average on the team with .362. He added 17 hits – 14 singles and three doubles – and 10 RBIs.
Bui had 26 hits on 104 at-bats, good for a batting average of 0.292. He also had 26 hits and 13 RBIs.
