Bell brothers slam their way to conference, district honors

Marqueas and Kendrick Bell reached multiple milestones on the basketball court this year and have been rewarded for their performances.

The Bell brothers were the top two Trojan basketball players throughout the season and were on the all-district team and Kansas City Suburban Conference Gold Division First Team. Ty Schreck and Sammy Hall were also key contributors to the Trojans’ 16-10 season, and both received Gold Division Honorable Mentions.

Marqueas Bell was one of the top scorers in all of Kansas City when the junior scored 19.7 points per game. The Trojan made 54 shots from behind the arc at a 39.4 percent rate, along with shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 78.2 percent from the charity stripe.

Marqueas Bell also led all Trojans with 52 total steals and also averaged 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists. His twin led the team in total rebounds with 152 and averaged 5.8 rebounds.

Park Hill junior Kendrick Bell earned postseason honors in the Kansas City Suburban Conference Gold Division and in the Class 6 District 8 Tournament in the 2021-22 season.

Kendrick Bell scored 14.7 points per game and knocked down 19 treys, while shooting 44.5 percent from the field. The junior also dished out two assists and had 1.9 steals a game.

In the Trojans’ 69-53 postseason loss to North Kansas City in the opening round of the Class 6 District 8 Tournament on Feb. 26, the Bell brothers combined for 39 points. Marqueas Bell ended with 28 points, four rebounds, one block and one steal as Kendrick Bell finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Schreck made an impact for Park Hill this season as he tied Luke Renton for the second most 3-pointers on the team with 40 total and the junior made 30.8 percent of his attempts from deep. This past season, Schreck averaged 9.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals.

Hall was the final Trojan with postseason honors and ended his senior campaign with a team-high 86 assists, which averaged out to 3.3 assists per game. Hall also scored 3.8 points, grabbed 2.2 rebounds and had 1.6 steals.
