The Blue Jays’ Charlie Kinslow was the first runner to cross the finish line at the Bishop LeBlond Invitational on Oct. 2 as the senior led the West Platte boys’ cross country team to a third place finish and Noah Heckman finished in the top-5 for North Platte.
Kinslow finished with his second best time ever as he ended with a time of 16:59. Heckman was the fifth runner to finish the race when the sophomore ended with a 17:53 time.
Ryan Pattison was the next Blue Jay to finish the race as he ended with a time of 18:38, earning himself 14th place, and Jonah McGivern was in 22nd place with a time of 18:57. The race was at Missouri Western State University, the same place as sectionals, and the Panthers and Blue Jays had both run on it earlier this season.
“Charlie took 30 seconds off his time on this course from just a month ago and looks ready to defend his 2020 district title on this very same course in just a few weeks,” West Platte head coach Mike Lowe said. “Ryan came out and attacked the course, for really the first time this season, and in so doing turned in his best time of the year.”
Tristan Newkirk ran a sub-20 minute 5K when the junior ended with a time of 19:58. Isaac Helmich finished in 20:52 and Sam Davies ended with a time of 21:33.
For North Platte, Gabriel Goodlet was its second place runner on the day as the senior crossed the finish line in 22:04. Waylon McCracken stepped up for the Panthers when the freshman ended with a time of 22:26.
Corbin Britting finished in 23:09 and Wesley Meadows ended with a time of 23:37. West Platte finished with 130 points to end in 3rd place, while North Platte ended with 358 points in 16th place.
