Three weeks ago, Breanna Cheadle and Donald Swanstone Jr. tied for a spot on the Dearborn Board of Aldermen.
A special election was held on Tuesday, May 1, and Cheadle won with 82 votes, compared to Swanstone’s 47 in unoffical results posted by the Platte County election board at 7:45 p.m.
They each garnered 41 votes in the April 3 election. A special election was decided upon during the board of aldermen meeting on April 9. At the time, Cheadle was in favor of breaking the tie with a coin flip or random drawing, but Swanstone voted no when asked.
“I am humbled by the overwhelming support and I fully commit to serve to the best of my ability the job that you have bestowed to me,” Cheadle said of the voters. I will never be able to thank you enough for taking the time out of your day today to vote. I know that you didn’t have to - but you did.”
