Dearborn veterans memorial nearing completion

The City of Dearborn approved a planning and zoning ordinance of four different lots in Troutman Circle at the latest board meeting on August 8.

With all four lots being represented by Patty Farr, they’re located near Highway Y. The lots are numbered 4-6 in Troutman Circle.

In new business, City Clerk Cindy Atkison announced that she had reached out about the Farmland Lease as the deadline is coming up on Oct. 31. She also said there will be a tax levy hearing on Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Don Sams attended the meeting to give an update on the planned veterans memorial in front of the community center. Work was expected to wrap up on the concrete work for the memorial last week. A granite sign with veterans names on it will be installed.

As of the day of the meeting, Sams had 32 names to put on the marker, and expected more names to be submitted before installation. There will be a dedication ceremony at a time to be determined on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The meeting concluded with a closed executive session pursuant to a Missouri Sunshine Law. The board had a private discussion about possible litigation, personnel and the sale of real estate.
