When the Park Hill South boys’ basketball team (7-4) was tied at 45 with Blue Springs (8-3) in overtime on Jan. 5, Messias Dockery came to the rescue.

With seven seconds remaining, the Park Hill South senior poked the ball loose from the Blue Springs point guard who was dribbling near half court. Dockery ran after the loose ball and drew a shooting foul with 4.6 seconds remaining.

Dockery sunk both shots from the charity stripe and J.D. Roberts blocked a Wildcats’ layup attempt at the buzzer to help Park Hill South survive, 47-45. Dockery also scored the game-tying basket on a pass from Roberts with 53 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime knotted at 41.
