After spending the last four seasons making a name for themselves at Platte County High School, eight players have signed on to continue their athletic careers at the 2022 Winter Athletics’ Signing and Pirates’ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Feb. 16.
The only in-season athlete to make a signing was Kiersten Robbins, who will be staying close to home. The senior forward has signed to play basketball at Park University next year.
After helping the Platte County football team reach back-to-back state championships in 2019 and 2020, Cole Rhoden will be playing football at the Division-1 level in 2022. After being a reliable wideout and kicker for the Pirates, Rhoden will be attending the University of Kansas next fall.
After an impressive fall season where the middle hitter earned Class 5 All-State honors, Kate Brown will be going to Newberry College to play volleyball in Newberry, SC. Brown finished her senior campaign with 336 kills, 255 digs and 20 blocks.
After back-to-back third place finishes in Class 4 State, the Platte County softball team has two girls who have signed to play at the same college. Ivy Hearn and Chloe Helmer will both be playing for North Central Missouri College in Trenton, MO.
Maya Sullivan will be traveling all the way to Shawnee, OK, to continue her track and field career at Oklahoma Baptist University. Sullivan is the reigning Class 4 state champion in the pole vault with a chance to repeat in the upcoming spring season.
The 6-foot-4 swimmer Dylan Bietz will be traveling the farthest among all Platte County boy signees as he will be going nearly 700 miles. Bietz has signed to swim at Aquinas University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Ahead of his senior spring season, Kole Jenks already has made a commitment to continue his baseball career at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. Jenks helped lead Platte County to an 18-9 record last season.
