Enrollment is up slightly for the North Platte School District this year.
Superintendent Karl Matt noted the number at the board meeting last month was at 592, a bump of four students compared to that time last year.
He noted the enrollment has gone back and forth and could go over 600 in the future. The school graduated a class of 47 last year and this year’s senior class is 37 students.
The elementary school enrollment is 127, with 51 of those in the second grade. At the intermediate, there are 143, with the fourth grade being the largest class with 53 students. The junior high has 151 students between sixth and eighth grade; the largest class is the sixth grade with 54 students. The high school had 173 students, with the freshmen accounting for 57 — 16 more than any other grade.
School started on Aug. 20 and will run through May 15, barring any inclement weather, Matt said.
