The Platte County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle crash on Highway 45 near Farley Hampton Road at about 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11.

The crash occurred as a 2021 Ford F750 truck was traveling southbound on Hwy. 45 when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a 2005 Acura sedan. The driver of the Acura, a 29-year-old male from Leavenworth, Kan., died at the scene. The two passengers in the Acura, a 35-year-old female and a 9-year-old male, were taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford was also taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

The name of the deceased party is not being released at this time to allow for familial notifications.

The crash is being investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team.
