Jackson Garrett won two individual events and swam on two first-place relays, leading the Panthers to victories against the four North Kansas City District Schools and St. Pius X on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Park Hill District Aquatic Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Park Hill South easily won all five matchups with Garrett blowing away the field in the 100 backstroke (54.45) and the 100 freestyle (50.31), beating teammate Patrick Hefferren by more than 3½ seconds in the latter event. Garrett, Hefferren, Ethan Wissman and Isaac Lee teamed for a win in the 200 medley relay, while Garrett, Lee, Connor Morris and Carson Schutter made up the winning 400 freestyle relay team.
Lee, Hefferren, Kyle DiBernardo and Shane McCullough helped Park Hill South sweep the relays, winning the 200 freestyle race by more than 3 full seconds. Morris and Wissman went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle for the Panthers, and Morris rounded out the individual victories in the 200 freestyle, beating Schutter in another 1-2 finish for the home team.
Kansas City meet
Platte County topped six other teams Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Kansas City, Mo., winning five of 11 events. The Pirates scored 175 points to easily outdistance Warrensburg (123), Pembroke Hill (77), Belton (55), Lincoln Prep (29), KC East (two) and Central Academy of Excellence (one).
Wins for Platte County included the 400 freestyle relay team of Jerry Orozco, Joe Ragone, Alex Beall and Caden DeLay. That group also accounted for all four individual wins — Beall (100 backstroke), DeLay (50 and 100 freestyle) and Orozco (200 freestyle).
