Involuntary murder charges were filed in the death of the manager of the Parkville Price Chopper.
Josha J. Stucky, 33, is accused of pushing Tony L. Silvey down to the ground while attempting to shoplift on Nov. 16 from the McKeever’s Price Chopper located at 9107 NW 45 Highway.
Silvey, 64, died on Dec. 2 from injuries caused from being pushed by Stucky, court documents allege. When officers arrived at 6:21 p.m., the manager was laying on the ground on the pavement near the west entrance/exit doors. There was a small amount of blood coming from the back of his head and he appeared to be disoriented.
The manager was transported to North Kansas City Hospital by ambulance to seek treatment. An autopsy revealed a skull fracture, hemorrhaging on the skull and a brain bleed. He died as a result of the assault according to information provided by Frontier Forensics.
Silvey told officers he was assisting loss prevention when he was pushed to the ground by a white male, later identified as Stucky.
Stucky was with a white female who concealed several items from the store in a gift bag. They walked through the store without making any attempt to purchase the items when loss prevention stopped Stucky. He allegedly said ‘you have your stuff back’ before pushing the manager down and fleeing. He got in a gold Chevrolet Impala with Kansas plates and before leaving stopped to get the female and pushed her into the car and left.
The two had 23 items with a total value of $194.58.
After Silvey died, further investigation tied to the car found it connected to a theft in Leawood, Kan., on Nov. 30. Stucky was arrested in March 2019 in Wyandotte County and his mugshot there matched the surveillance video from the Parkville store.
Riverside Police Department contacted Parkville and noted the female involved was Grace C. Clark, 26, of Overland Park, Kan., who was arrested with Stucky during a traffic stop earlier this year. The photos of Clark matched that of the female with Stucky in the shoplifting.
An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 5 for Stucky. He is in custody in Franklin (Kan.) County but will be held without bond when he is transferred. Clark’s only charge was misdemeanor shoplifting. A warrant was issued for her arrested on Dec. 13 with a $1,500 bond. She is currently not in custody in Platte County, rather being held in Johnson (Kan.) County.
Silvey was a Northland native, graduating from Oak Park in 1974. He worked in the grocery business for more than 40 years. He is survived by a daughter and a grandson. Services for him were held on Dec. 10 at Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City.
