Jones, Gayman lead boys basketball honors

Park Hill senior basketball stars Cam Jones and Leo Gayman were among the names selected for all-conference and all-district honors.

The Trojan duo helped Park Hill to its first 19-win season since 2017 before falling in the district semifinals to the eventual state champion Oak Park Northmen.

Jones progressed over four years as a Trojan, ending his senior season with the best of his high school career. Jones set a career-high in points, rebounds and assists in perhaps the toughest conference in the state, averaging 18.5 points, 6.39 rebounds and 2.75 assists per game.

Gayman spent all four years in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference, previously earning all-state honors as a junior at William Chrisman. In his first and only season with Park Hill, Gayman showed his dominance with 18.5 points and 10.54 rebounds per game but was selectively elite from 3-point range, knocking down nearly 42%.

The Trojans also had junior Isaiah Caston and Kayden Boersma named all-conference honorable mention. Caston was among the top assist providers in the conference while Boersma was another 3-point threat.

Park Hill South senior Gerard Hinson, who led the conference with 19.25 points per game, was named all-conference second team. Panther senior Jayse Hanson and junior Carson Bjorn were also selected as all-conference honorable mentions.

The 2024-25 season was challenging for the Panthers in a year of transition. Still, they improved their record to 10-16 before crashing out in the opening round of districts.
