KCI Conference honors North Platte, West Platte basketball stars

The best boys and girls basketball players from the KCI Conference were selected to the all-conference teams for this season.

The conference champion North Platte girls team led the way with four all-
conference honorees, including unanimous first-team selection Lindsay Ramsey. The Panthers also had Brianna Debord and junior Allyson Smith
named to the first team while Camryn Kersten was an all-conference honorable mention.

North Platte’s first 25-win season since 2015 ended in the Class 2 state quarterfinals against the back-to-back state champion Skyline Tigers for the second straight year.

The West Platte girls were also represented as junior Blair McHenry was a unanimous first-team selection, leading the conference with 76 assists and her team with 214 points. West Platte went 16-11 as a district semifinalist this season in Class3.

Sophomore Catelyn Carlson was named all-conference second team for the Blue Jays. Carlson led West Platte’s 3-point shooting efforts, hitting 27 on 86 attempts.

In the boys conference, West Platte’s Drake Montez and North Platte’s Brenden Matt were unanimous first-team selections. Montez was critical in the Blue Jays’ success, which Matt ended in the opening round of districts on Feb. 24.

Dylan Armstrong of North Platte was also an All-KCI first- team selection, helping the Panthers to the Class 3 District 15 semifinal round. The team was round- ed out with West Platte’s Kane Cogan and North Platte’s Westin Snook earning honorable mention.
