Four Platte County basketball basketball players have been named to the Kansas City Suburban Conference White Division all-conference teams.
From the Pirates' girls program, seniors Addy Schlake and Lauren Stone were named all-conference first team while junior guard Rylee Carr was selected all-conference second team. The trio helped the Pirates to a 17-9 overall record, 10-4 in conference play, before making it to the district championship.
Schlake was a big presence in the paint throughout the season, leading the conference with 231 rebounds as she recorded eight double-doubles. The 6-foot forward was among the best shot-blockers in the conference with 14 rejections and set career highs to average 9.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
Stone was the conference's second-leading scorer, tallying 345 points and averaging 14.4 points per game. She was a threat from deep, hitting 61 triples and shot 70% from the free-throw line.
Carr was a top-five conference scorer and rebounder but was also Platte County's most efficient shooter, shooting 49% from the field. She was third in the conference with 66 steals.
The boys' lone all-conference representative was senior guard Jaden Peterson, who was named to the first team. Peterson helped the Pirates to an 11-16 overall record, 5-9 in conference, before facing elimination in the district quarterfinals.
Peterson was one of two boys in the conference to hit the 500-point marker this season, finishing with a career-high 530 points in his final season. He shot over 50% from the field and ranked fourth in the conference for rebounds.
The 6-foot-6 forward wrapped up his career inside in spectacular fashion. He scored a career-high 41 points in his final game inside Pirate Fieldhouse, defeating William Chrisman 72-45 on Feb. 25.
Peterson leaves big shoes to fill going into next season for the boys basketball team.
