Keegan Good's back-to-back hat-tricks helps Park Hill South snatch No. 3 seed in districts

En route to locking in the No. 3 seed in the Class 6 District 8 Tournament, the Park Hill South girls’ soccer team (12-5) has been on a roll – winning seven of its last nine – led by Keegan Good, who has erupted for 19 goals and nine assists thus far in 2022.

Ending a game with a hat-trick, when an individual scores at least three goals, can be tough to do in high school but Good has made it look easy. The Lady Panther senior has accomplished said feat in back-to-back contests when Park Hill South outscored its opponents 15-0.

In the 8-0 victory over North Kansas City (4-15) on May 3, Park Hill South only needed one half to come out on top in the Red Division matchup as the mercy rule came into play with an eight-goal deficit, so the game ended at halftime. The Lady Panthers converted on three goals in the opening 10:00 when Olivia Gates, Isabelle Larson and Good all scored.

Park Hill South senior Keegan Good celebrates after earning her second hat-trick in the second consecutive game when the Lady Panthers defeated St. Joseph’s Central 7-0 on May 5.

Lily Reuscher assisted on the next two scores when Maddie Fosmoe and Kate Hermelink found the back of the net. Good scored two consecutive goals in a 4:00 stint to earn a hat-trick and Sydney Munch scored her first goal of the season right before the half to give Park Hill South an 8-0 margin.

Park Hill South continued the dominance in a postseason preview by taking down St. Joseph’s Central (7-9) by a 7-0 score on May 5. It only took Good 22:00 to claim her second hat-trick in three days as the senior scored the opening three goals of the contest – starting at 3’ – as she went a perfect three-for-three on shot attempts on the day.

Good also found the back of the net in the eighth minute on a pass from Olivia Clemons and at 22’ from a dish by Lily DiBernardo. Suzi Schulze took a pass from Resucher the distance at 32’ and Hermelink slipped one past the Lady Indians’ goalkeeper in the final seconds of the first half to give the Lady Panthers a 5-0 margin at the break.

Taylor Hild, who entered the game without a single assist all spring, assisted on the final two goals of the day, starting in the 42nd minute when Anna Bolger scored her second goal of the season. Fosmoe scored at 78’ to put the nail in the coffin of the 7-0 victory.

The Lady Panthers will have two games left – both on the road – in the regular season when they match up with Oak Park (7-11) and Lee’s Summit (11-2). Park Hill South will take on St. Joseph’s Central in the opening round of the Class 4 District 8 Tournament at 1 p.m. on May 14 at Liberty North High School.
