Eden Shipp, Bailey Silcott, Ella Green and Lily Ricketts are the four Pirates that will be moving on to state after finishing in the top-21 individuals at districts. Platte County’s top finisher was Shipp who was the second best golfer at the tournament, ending with 84 strokes.

“Barring the terrible weather, we were able to produce good enough scores to advance a team to the Class 3 State Golf Championships,” Platte County head coach Trevor Short said. “The team showed true grit as they worked their way around the course.”

Silcott finished in eighth place when she shot a 93 and Green was three strokes behind her ending in ninth place. Ricketts finished in 21st place to clinch a state appearance when she ended with 113 strokes.

“We are very proud of the team and how hard they have worked all season to advance a team to the final tournament.  This was one of our goals at the beginning of the season and it was achieved yesterday,” Short said.

Brylie Kovar ended the tournament in 33rd place with 129 points to give Platte County 386 strokes to give it a second place finish in tough weather conditions. The tournament was played at Eagles Landing Golf Course and it rained throughout the day.

“The last few holes the rain stopped and the sun was able to peek through the clouds putting a silver lining on the day. Our goals are not finished quite yet, our final team goal is to bring home some hardware,” Short said.
