Mackenzie Borland led the way for the Platte County girl’s golf team as the Pirates ended in third place in the Central Invitational at Moila Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 9.
Borland was the top-finisher for the Pirates when she tied for sixth place overall with 89 points. One stroke behind her was Bailey Silcott who earned herself an eighth place finish.
“The Pirates had a good day today,” Platte County head coach Trevor Short said. “We haven’t played at Moila Country Club in quite a while, so it was new to pretty much all of the team.”
Coach Short told the Platte County Citizen that although the Pirates weren’t used to the course, it was in good shape so if they kept the ball in play, there was a good chance of producing some good shots. Eden Shipp finished with a score of 91 points and tied for ninth overall.
Lilly Ricketts shot a 96 and tied for 16th place, while Ellas Green tied for 18th place with 97 points. Platte County ended with a total score of 364 points to finish in third place.
“We still have a ways to go in the season and hopefully we can keep making adjustments to improve all of our scores and be more consistent,” Short said.
The Pirates next competition will be against Oak Park at Paradise Point Golf Course on the morning of Sept. 20.
