The reigning Class 3 District 16 Champions have a chance to win another district title as the Platte County girls’ soccer team (22-3) took down William Chrisman (18-7) 6-0 in the semifinals on May 16.
Heading into the Class 3 District 8 Tournament as the No. 2 seed, the Lady Pirates have outscored their opponents 17-0 in the postseason. Platte County opened up district play with an 11-0 victory over Winnetonka (4-14-1), which is the most goals the Lady Pirates have scored in a single postseason contest since 2010, on May 14.
Platte County has been on fire lately, not allowing a single goal in its last four contests while converting on 37 goals in that stretch. The Lady Pirates have only allowed five scores all season long in the 22 games where they were the victor.
The top-seed Smithville (22-3) has outscored its opponents 18-0 in districts and will be the next opponent for Platte County on May 19 at 6 p.m. This matchup has happened three times this season, all of which were decided by one goal.
The Lady Warriors came out on top in two of the contests by the same score, 1-0, on April 14 and May 19. In the North Kansas City Tournament Championship, the Lady Pirates won 3-2 on April 23.
